Quick Hits: Durham Center II
One of Durham's tallest buildings is "Durham Centre", better known as the Duke Clinical Research building that sticks up out of the parking garage on the downtown loop.
My understanding is that, for decades, a second tower there has been planned. It looks as though that project is finally moving forward under the name "Durham Center II" (I am not sure if they will eventually go with the "Centre" or "Center" spelling to be consistent with the first tower).

I don't have much more information on this project. It is in the early submittal stages, so it could change. However, as it stands, it would be the second tallest tower in Durham (at some point, someone needs to build a taller building than the Durham Pickle on 15-501)!
The ground floor retail is great. It also underscores the need to fix the downtown loop by converting it into two-way traffic, slowing down cars, and improving the pedestrian experience.
